Saquon Barkley is undoubtedly the most important player in the Eagles’ offense right now — perhaps even more so than Jalen Hurts.

With Hurts coming into this game banged up, it means we’re likely to see Philly lean on its star running back, just like last week against the Rams. However, while Barkley caught all four of his targets in that game, there’s a chance we could see him go under 2.5 receptions in this game.

He’s only had over two receptions on five occasions this season and last week was the first time since Week 12, which was also against the Rams. Through the 17 games of the regular season, no team had given up fewer receptions to running backs than the Commanders, who allowed just 48. While the Eagles will look to get the ball into Saquon’s hands it seems unlikely they’ll have much success with this method.

Hurts hasn’t really looked himself since returning in the playoffs following the concussion he suffered against the Commanders back in Week 16. Last week, in particular, he looked like a shell of the player that we’ve seen previously — his rushing numbers, in terms of attempts, were understandably well below his usual output.

In the playoffs, Hurts has had six and seven rushing attempts and his line stands at 7.5 here. That’s way short of the 10 he had when he was healthy in the Week 11 meeting between the teams.

While Barkley will get the bulk of carries, we should see Hurts shoulder more rushing attempts. After all, the season is on the line and there are two weeks available to heal after this game before the Super Bowl.

If you think this game is going to be remotely close, then it’s also worth taking Hurts over 7.5 rush attempts.

[subheader sizedown=”false” text=”A.J. Brown Over 61.5 Receiving Yards (-110)” subtext=”” center=”false” logo1url=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/nfl/100/phi.png” link1=”” link1follow=”true” logo2url=”” link2=”” link2follow=”true” trailinglogourl=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/859377_Bet365@1x.png” trailinglink=”https://www.actionnetwork.com/online-sports-betting/reviews/bet365″ trailinglinkfollow=”true”][/subheader]

It’s been a very disappointing playoff campaign for A.J. Brown so far.

Brown entered the postseason in great form, with his final three games of the regular season seeing back-to-back touchdowns and double-digit targets in two of them. In the two playoff games since, he’s racked up a total of three catches on 10 targets for 24 yards and no touchdowns.

If the Eagles want to win this, they need to get their best receiver going. Fortunately, he’s been excellent against the Commanders this season.

In Week 11 against Washington, he caught five of eight targets for 65 yards; he improved in the second meeting with the Commanders in Week 16 with eight receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Brown’s integral to Eagles and he should have the opportunities to cover his line of 61.5 receiving yards.

The Commanders used Austin Ekeler effectively in their win over the Lions, letting him do what he does best: receive the ball in space.

That game saw Ekeler catch all four of his targets, a number he’s had in both playoff games, and he turned that into 41 yards. He’s underrated coming into this game and could be pivotal in terms of dealing with the Eagles’ front.

Ekeler missed the Week 16 game with an injury, but back in Week 11, he had his most productive game of the season in the passing game, catching eight of nine targets for 89 yards.

Get Ekeler into space and he’s dangerous. Regardless of whether the Commanders are winning or losing, they will use him in the passing game.
