This number seems to be inflated by Brook Lopez’ 21-point game last night against Sacramento. That was a better matchup, particularly for 3-point shooting. This is a much tougher spot.

Lopez expanded his outside shooting when he came to Milwaukee, and he’s leaned into it even more this season. Lopez has taken 54.5% of his shots from 3-point range, his most since 2018-19 (first season with the Bucks).

He’s scored 47.4% of his points from 3-pointers, which is again the 2nd most of his career. The slight change this season compared to that 2018-19 season is free throws.

Lopez has taken a career-low 1.3 free throws per game. He’s scored just 8.2% of his points from the charity stripe, which is easily a career low. He’s never been below 11%.

Lopez has also been assisted on a career-high 86% of his field goals. The lack of free throws and individual creation emphasizes his role as strictly a spot-up 3-point shooter.

That’s a tough gig against this Orlando squad. They have held opponents to the fewest made 3-pointers per game and the fewest attempts.

They have given up the fewest assists per game on the 3rd-lowest assisted field goal rate. Specifically against centers, Orlando has allowed the 4th-fewest points per game and the 6th-fewest made 3-pointers per game.

Lopez has performed well in a handful of games lately (Sacramento, Toronto, San Antonio), but they were all solid 3-point matchups. This is a challenging setup for his skill set.

Pick: Brook Lopez Under 12.5 Points (-125)

[subheader sizedown=”false” text=”Ja Morant Under 7.5 Assists (-140)” subtext=”Grizzlies vs Spurs, 8:00 p.m. ET” center=”false” logo1url=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/nba/100/mem.png” link1=”https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/odds/memphis-grizzlies” link1follow=”true” logo2url=”” link2=”” link2follow=”true” trailinglogourl=”” trailinglink=”” trailinglinkfollow=”true”][/subheader]

In three games since returning from injury, Ja Morant is averaging 3.7 assists and 8 potential assists per game.

Tonight, he will have to contend with a Spurs defense that has quietly been among the best in the NBA in recent weeks, allowing the 3rd-fewest points per 100 possessions across their last 8 games.

Morant simply hasn’t had enough volume as a facilitator of late to justify a market number this high. The math favors the under.

Pick: Ja Morant Under 7.5 Assists (-140)

I bet this a couple games back against the Lakers, but it ended up getting postponed.

This is a nice spot to run it back. Mark Williams isn’t a massive distributor, but he’s been way more involved offensively this season. He’s posted a career-high 21.3% usage rate and a career-high 18.8% assist rate.

Williams had been on an upward trajectory in terms of minutes as he worked his way back from a lengthy injury absence.

He has now played 20+ minutes in 7 straight games after being stuck in the teens for much of December. He’s averaging 2.6 assists on 3.9 potential assists in that stretch.

Utah has allowed the 5th-most assists per game and the 6th-highest assisted field goal rate. Only the Wizards have a worse defensive rating this season.

Pick: Mark Williams Over 1.5 Assists (+110)
