The Vikings deserved to be no worse than the third seed in the NFC. They finished the regular season 14-3 but had the misfortune of sharing a division with the 15-2 Lions.
Two of those three losses for Minnesota came against Detroit — while the third was against the Rams. Perhaps not coincidentally, the Vikings’ loss to the Rams came the week after facing the Lions — the same situation Minnesota finds itself in now.
While Los Angeles got to rest starters in Week 18 (its playoff position was already effectively set), Minnesota had another high-stakes game with the rival Lions, who perhaps showed the blueprint for shutting down the Vikings’ explosive offense.
The timing couldn’t be much better for the Rams here, though they did lose home-field advantage with this game being moved from SoFi Stadium to State Farm Stadium because of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
I’m also taking a small shot on the Rams moneyline at +126, but getting the 2.5 points in case of a close loss is an even better proposition.

We have two high-powered offenses squaring off that were both unlucky to not score more during the regular season, according to our Expected Scores.
In addition, the Vikings and Rams have actually been better of late, with both improving their offensive DVOA rank in the recency-weighted version than the unweighted version.
This especially makes sense for the Rams — they went a large chunk of the season with a depleted offensive line that’s now getting healthy, plus Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp each missed time at various points of the season.
Defensively, the Rams have improved as their defense’s health has also improved, but Minnesota has actually gotten slightly worse when we weigh more recent results.
I make this game total 48 or even 48.5 depending on how I handle the recency weighting.
I bet over 46.5 at a slightly juiced -115 at DraftKings on Tuesday, but I’d still play 47.5.

Nacua has been playing at a whole new level recently, and he gets a great spot to continue that momentum on Monday night.
The total for this game (47.5) is high compared to recent Rams games. Nacua has been targeted a massive 12 times in the red zone in his last five games and has been averaging over 10 targets per game in that span.
The Rams get a matchup vs. the Vikings, who have a good pass defense but utilize a pass funnel that forces opponents to throw at the third-highest rate in the league this season.
I have Nacua at over a 50% chance of scoring, making this a great bet at plus odds.
