NFL Touchdown Picks, Expert-Driven Predictions for Sunday Week 17

Due to various late-season factors, there’s still plenty of value in the anytime touchdown market in Week 17. One of the most relevant is injuries often open up playing time to more unheralded prospects — and low-profile players are where expert projections thrive.

The two best edges for Sunday are in Panthers vs. Buccaneers — two teams dealing with the injury bug.

The best pick from PRO touchdown data is Buccaneers WR Ryan Miller.

Tampa Bay won’t have wide receiver Sterling Shepard or tight end Cade Otton, which opens up a sizable gap in the skill corps for Miller.

Voids at both position groups help the second-year Miller, a standout tight end at Furman before going undrafted in 2023.

Miller is +700 at FanDuel, which implies a fair probability of about 12.5%. Action PRO models forecast Miller for 0.21 touchdowns per game.

The big receiver already has two touchdowns this season in limited action. Injuries to two of Baker Mayfield‘s targets open up extended looks for Miller.

PRO TD Projections Pick: Ryan Miller TD (+700)

Let’s switch gears to the Panthers, who shut down running back Chuba Hubbard ahead of Week 17.

The player to capitalize in the anytime TD market is RB Mike Boone, who’s +330 at FanDuel. Projections shade the edge to Boone over Raheem Blackshear (+200), forecasting Boone for 0.34 touchdowns per game and Blackshear for just 0.26.

Ahead of Sunday, Boone is the third-largest TD edge.

PRO TD Projections Pick: Mike Boone TD (+330)

The Raiders vs. Saints game presents two touchdown picks.

The first is Saints TE Foster Moreau, who’s in a revenge spot against his former team and the second-largest projection edge.

Moreau is +800 at FanDuel. PRO Projections’ fair price on a Moreau touchdown is much shorter, with a 0.18 touchdowns-per-game forecast.

Moreau’s running a route on a solid chunk of Spencer Rattler‘s dropbacks and won’t have to fight for targets with Taysom Hill.

PRO TD Projections Pick: Foster Moreau TD (+800)

The second Saints TD edge is fellow TE Juwan Johnson.

Johnson’s running a route on more than 80% of Rattler’s dropbacks and is a value pick at +650 (DraftKings), with our forecast of 0.20 touchdowns per game marking a solid 4.7% edge.

PRO TD Projections Pick: Juwan Johnson TD (+650)

The best flier in the quarterback market is Jaguars QB Mac Jones.

He’s fully capable of cashing in, just as he did vs. the Vikings a few weekends ago. Also, he rushed for nearly 30 yards a few weeks.

Odds for Jones to score vs. the Titans are a market-best +1000 at FanDuel, a price tag implying a 9% chance.

Action PRO models predict Jones for 0.14 — good enough for a bet over the 3.5% recommended edge.

PRO TD Projections Pick: Mac Jones TD (+1000)
