College Football Bowl Projections: Brett McMurphy’s Week 10 Predictions, College Football Playoff Picks

A week from Tuesday will be a life-altering event impacting every single American. No, silly, not the Presidential election. The initial College Football Playoff rankings will be released on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. ET.

It will be the first glimpse at the committee’s seedings for the new 12-team playoff, including how much the committee values teams with more losses and a tougher schedule compared with teams with fewer losses and an easier schedule.

Based on what I think they’ll do — and projecting the final weeks remaining — here are my updated playoff projections. Georgia (SEC champs), Oregon (Big Ten), Miami (ACC), Iowa State (Big 12) and Boise State (Group of Five) receive the automatic bids.

The rest of the field is filled in by at-large teams: Ohio State, Texas A&M, Penn State, Texas, Clemson, Notre Dame and BYU.

With five regular-season games remaining, there are now 33 bowl-eligible teams for 82 spots. Welcome to the club, Colorado. Nice to have you join us. It’s been a few years.

Onto my Week 10 bowl projections.

Included in my bowl projections is the projected point spread of each matchup from Action Network senior writer Collin Wilson’s betting power ratings.
