Bo Nix Named Broncos Starting QB – What it Means for Rookie of the Year, Denver Odds

It’s hardly a shock, but it’s now official — it’s Bo Nix time in Denver.

Head coach Sean Payton announced that this year’s 12th overall pick beat out Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson to be the Broncos‘ starter.

So, what does that mean in the betting world?

The bigger news comes in the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award market. Nix opened at +1700 to win Offensive Rookie of the Year at BetMGM, but is now +900. That’s the fourth-best in the league behind Caleb Williams (+130), Jayden Daniels (+500) and Marvin Harrison Jr. (+750). Malik Nabers rounds out the top five at +1300.

Nix finished third in Heisman Trophy voting last year behind Daniels and Michael Penix Jr.  He was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year as he set a new FBS record for single-season completion percentage (77.4). He led Oregon to a 12-2 record as he threw for 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns and just three picks. He also added six rushing scores.

Still, his status as QB1 hasn’t changed much in terms of Denver’s odds. The Broncos are still expected to be a bottom dweller as they’re tied for the third-worst odds to win the Super Bowl (+15000). The only teams with worse odds are the Patriots (+30000) and Panthers (+25000).

Meanwhile, the Broncos have the second-worst odds of any team to win their division (+2500), ahead of only the Patriots (+3000).
