Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are looking for their first win on Friday at the Los Angeles Sparks and number 2 overall pick Cameron Brink.
There is almost some level of rivalry between the top 2 picks, and some extra motivation for the Fever to get their first win, and for Clark to outduel the player picked right after her.
The last five number one overall picks have all faced a similar situation early in their careers, playing against the number 2 overall pick, and they all excelled. All five scored more points than their season average, with the average going 10.4 points over their average for the entire rookie season. Rhyne Howard, Sabrina Ionescu, and A’ja Wilson are the number 1 picks with the best comps to Clark, and they all excelled, scoring 30+ points for each of them in this game.
Clark has also looked better each and every game, as she becomes more accustomed to her teammates and WNBA defenses. I like her to exceed this line, and potentially by a lot. Betting .25u on Clark over 20.5 points at -110 on Fanduel. I’d also like a sprinkle on 30+ points if that becomes available, as I think we are going to see her best game as a pro yet.
