College Football Bowl Projections: Brett McMurphy’s Week 10 Predictions With Projected Spreads

In the past two weeks, the Los Angeles and Holiday bowls have new naming rights sponsors, and the Bahamas Bowl announced it will be played this season in Charlotte because of stadium renovations in the Bahamas.

No more Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl? The Bahamas Bowl in Charlotte? Is nothing sacred in college football anymore?

Apparently not. Onto this week’s bowl projections.

With four weeks remaining in the regular season, 40 teams are bowl eligible. I’m still projecting there won’t be enough bowl-eligible teams to fill all 82 spots. That’s great for James Madison and Jacksonville State, which can earn bids if there are not enough bowl-eligible teams.

Also, Northwestern — yes, Northwestern — joins JMU and Jacksonville State in this week’s projections because the Wildcats would have the highest APR of potential 5-7 teams.

Here are my Week 10 projections — and each projection includes the projected point spread for each bowl based on Action Network senior writer Collin Wilson’s updated college football betting power ratings.

*The highest-rated champion from the Group of Five conferences (American, Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West and Sun Belt) will be selected to play in either the Peach or Fiesta Bowl if it does not qualify for the College Football Playoff.
**James Madison and Jacksonville State are in its second year transitioning from FCS to FBS. They can only receive a bid if there are not enough teams with at least six wins to fill all the bowls. This week, I do not project enough six-win teams, allowing the Dukes and Gamecocks to receive a bowl berth.
