Ohtani’s advantage today is further enhanced by his lack of prior encounters with Reds hitters, granting him the edge of unfamiliarity.
Additionally, a slump among Reds players, including young star Elly De La Cruz — who’s managed just two hits in his last 17 at-bats for a .118 average — and Spencer Steer — with a comparable .167 average, having secured only three hits in his last 18 at-bats — adds to Ohtani’s favorable position.

This season, Kershaw has impressed with a 14-4 NRFI record, contributing to his overall NRFI prowess of 33-7 since 2022.
When confronting batters in their initial appearance in the order, Kershaw’s efficiency shines, allowing only a .211 average across 152 at-bats.
Previous encounters against the Guardians’ lineup illustrate Kershaw’s proficiency, highlighted by his control over hitters like Kole Calhoun (2-for-18) and Jose Ramirez (1-for-5).
