After a stretch that pitted him in tough matchups against the Philadelphia 76ers twice, the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks, Bam Adebayo put up 46 points + rebounds + assists (PRA) against the Atlanta Hawks Saturday. With the Hawks staying in Miami to face the Heat again on Monday, I’m looking to Adebayo to produce yet again.
Adebayo is averaging a career-high 34.7 PRA this season, which includes clearing this total in each of his three games against the Hawks. Across those matchups, the Heat center has recorded 58 combined paint and elbow touches (19.4 per game), significantly more than the 15.1 per game he’s averaged on the season.
The Heat are likely to look to exploit Bam’s matchup against Clint Capela over the defense that both Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro will draw on the perimeter. The Hawks have allowed the 11th-most points to opposing centers this season, and Adebayo has cleared this line in five of his last six matchups against Capela.
It’s a soft line in an above average spot for the form Kentucky product. I have Adebayo projected at 35 PRA, and would play this up to over 33.5.
