The smartest college football predictions are often a mixed bag when it comes to our weekly Saturday PRO Reports.
Big games, small games, spreads, totals, it doesn’t matter where the predictions come from as long as there is the potential for value.
Well, today’s PRO Report for college football Week 9 offers less variety than normal, with four of Saturday’s sharpest predictions derived solely from spreads across major conference matchups.
In addition, all four of these games have tight spreads, suggesting that they all could be very competitive matchups as well.
Without further ado, let’s dive into Saturday’s smartest college football Week 9 predictions, including:
- Notre Dame vs. No. 16 Syracuse (12 p.m. ET)
- No. 10 Wake Forest vs. Louisville (3:30 p.m. ET)
- No. 9 Oklahoma State vs. No. 22 Kansas State (3:30 p.m. ET)
- Missouri vs. No. 25 South Carolina (4 p.m. ET)

Notre Dame vs. Syracuse Prediction
12 p.m. ET | ABC
Odds movement and market activity for Notre Dame vs. Syracuse has been fascinating to this point.
FanDuel opened the Irish at +4.5 early this week, and pro bettors have consistently pounded the underdogs.
Seventy-three percent of the money wagered on this spread has come down on Notre Dame, yet the Fighting Irish have garnered just 46% of the tickets.
With big bettors all over Notre Dame, oddsmakers has adjusted this spread through the key number of +3 and down to +1.5 across the market.
And even with this extremely significant line movement, the Action Network’s College Football PRO Projections are still finding value with the Irish.
We project Notre Dame as a very short favorite — -0.8 to be exact — against Syracuse, resulting in a 2.9% edge.
PRO Prediction: Notre Dame +1.5

Missouri vs. South Carolina Prediction
4 p.m. ET | SEC Network
Missouri vs. South Carolina fits a similar template to the three games above, but instead of PRO Projections agreement, it’s the Action Network’s PRO Betting Systems on the same side as the pros.
To start, sharp bettors have slammed Missouri from +5.5 to +3.5 already this week, and for good reason.
The Tigers are a match for our Conference Matchup Heavily Bet PRO System, which has produced a 288-212-9 (58%) against-the-spread win rate since 2005 by identifying undervalued teams playing high-profile games against conference opponents.
PRO Prediction: Missouri +3.5
