Mac Jones probably won’t need to do much in his first game back for the Patriots to beat the Bears tonight.
I’m expecting Chicago to run the ball and keep the clock running, which will shorten this game, all while not scoring many points. I expect New England to also lean on the ground game with Damien Harris back and running alongside Rhamondre Stevenson.
The Bears defense has been middle of the pack against the pass (14th in Football Outsiders’ DVOA), but it has struggled against the run (26th in DVOA).
Jones threw five interceptions in three games before getting injured, so it would make sense for New England to have a more conservative game plan for him tonight. I’m projecting him for closer to 205.5 passing yards and wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up with less than 200 based on the expected game script and matchup.
