Sharps Move Super Bowl 53 Spread Toward Patriots Immediately After Opening

Patriots as underdogs? To Jared Goff and the Rams? In the Super Bowl?!?! Get right out of town.

That’s what the lookahead lines suggested, as the Rams were -3 vs. a potential game vs. the Pats following their upset of New Orleans. Once bettors saw vintage Tom Brady march down the field at the end of the fourth quarter and overtime, they weren’t having any of it.

Following the Patriots-Chiefs game, the line actually did not match up with the lookahead, as the opener varied between Rams -1 and a pick ’em. Still, that was way off in the mind of early bettors.

Sharp action instantly struck once lines began popping up.

Sports Insights’ bet signals tracked a steam move on New England (PK) and nearly all the early bets and cash came flowing in rapidly.

This influx of bets forced the market to swing the odds in the Patriots’ favor, moving the line to Pats -1.5/-2.

With over 2,500 bets already tracked, 84% of the spread tickets and 87% of the cash is on New England. They’re also getting 75% of moneyline bets and 95% of money in that department, too.

There was a bit of buyback, however, as a Rams +2.5 line that popped up did not have a long life span. It will be interesting to see whether or not this line reaches the key number of three over the next two weeks.
