Super Bowl 53 Over/Under: Rams-Patriots Offering Highest Super Bowl Total of All Time

Following a controversial win against the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship Game, the Los Angeles Rams punched their ticket to Super Bowl 53.

The Rams will take on the New England Patriots, who won a thriller of their own against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In 2017, the over/under for Super Bowl 51 between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons closed at the 57, setting the record for the highest Super Bowl total of all time.

Well, that record didn’t stand long as oddsmakers opened the total for Super Bowl 53 at a lofty 59 points.

Here’s a look at how the Super Bowl 53 over/under compares to the 10 highest in Super Bowl history:

Of the 10 highest Super Bowl totals, six landed under, three went over and one pushed.

Overall, 26 Super Bowls have gone over the total, while 24 have fallen under. Super Bowl 33 between the Broncos and Falcons resulted in a push, while no total was available for Super Bowl 1 between the Packers and Chiefs.

According to our Bet Labs data, unders are 33-30 (52.4%) in all NFL games that closed with totals of at least 55 points since 2003. Nine of those games occurred in the postseason, four of which finished under the total.

Please note that our Super Bowl database consists of consensus lines, so over/under records may vary slightly depending on the closing line cited.
