There 2019 NFL Playoffs are officially here. Wild card matchups are set and sportsbooks opened betting lines for each of the four games Sunday night.
With the Dallas Cowboys securing a postseason berth, it’s no surprise to see the Seahawks-Cowboys matchup earning Saturday’s prime-time slot. Love them or hate them, America’s Team brings fans — and ratings — wherever it goes.
The Cowboys opened as 2.5-point home favorites over the Seahawks, and the spread is right back where it opened.
However, the much more interesting story surrounds the over/under and how professional betting action is already forcing oddsmakers to adjust this total.
After opening at 41.5 across the betting market, bettors quickly jumped on the over. Eighty percent of tickets and 82% of dollars wagered have hit the over, but it’s not just casual bettors in that overwhelming majority.
Sports Insights’ Bet Signals — which track and report professional betting action in real-time — triggered a Steam Move on over 42 at 10:29 a.m. ET Monday.
Steam refers to sudden, uniform line movement across the betting market that is usually the result of sharps getting down on the same side of one game at multiple sportsbooks, all at once.
With both recreational and sharp bettors jumping on the over, oddsmakers quickly adjusted the total to the current number of 43.5.
